Description

I’m Director-General of the National Trust – the job of my dreams, which I have been doing for just over 11 years. Before that I worked mostly in the charity sector (8 years at the Council for National Parks (1980 – 87) and 11 years at CPRE (1987 – 1998) but then spent just over 2 years running the Women’s Unit in the Cabinet Office from 1998 – 2000. I’m passionate about landscape history, and have worked on a wide range of countryside and heritage issues. I’m currently a member of the Government’s Independent Advisory Panel advising on the future of forests in England.
